Ankara-Çankaya and Altındağ Sewage Project

  • Financing : Equity Capital
  • Service : Wastewater and Stormwater Networks
  • Employer : General Directorate of Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ)
  • Project Duration : 2000 - 2001

ÇANKAYA

Çankaya-Beytepe Region is a very rapidly developing area with shopping and commercial centers and residential buildings in the south western part of Ankara. Inadequate planning that could not cope with rate of development during recent years, necessitated an overall review and planning of wastewater and stormwater systems. The work included planning for existing settlement areas together with new development areas, design of reticulation system and its connection to main sewer. The work included also transfer of network onto digital topographical base maps.

ALTINDAĞ

Altındağ, being oldest known settlement area of Ankara, is centrally located and very densely populated, with historical buildings and narrow streets on a topographically very rough terrain. Existing wastewater and stormwater system did not function. Scope of this work was to transfer existing network onto digital-topographical base maps, review of the network and redesign of the existing collecting sewer reticulation system and its discharge to Ankara-BAKAY Main Sewer System.

Services provided by ALTER;

  • Study of existing network and planning for future sewerage system
  • Existing network is mapped using conventional on ground route surveying
  • Network is digitized and transferred onto digital base maps produced from aero photos
  • Town development plans are studied and present/future settlement areas are located
  • Population growth is studied and projections covering year 2020 carried out
  • Future water consumption and wastewater figures are estimated
  • Water catchment and runoff areas are studied
  • Separated wastewater and stormwater reticulation systems are analyzed
  • An existing small earth fill dam is reviewed as a potential retention basin for stormwater
  • Detailed design
  • Wastewater and stormwater drainage collectors are designed
  • Tender documents and BoQs are prepared
  • Tender documents for 1st stage implementation are prepared
