Because of its geographically seismic prone location, İstanbul is one of the cities in Turkey which is most vulnerable to natural disasters, particularly earthquakes. Istanbul Seismic Risk Mitigation and Emergency Preparadness Project (ISMEP) were initiated by the Republic of Turkey and International Bank of Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). The project is implemented by the İstanbul Provincial Administration (ISPA) through Istanbul Project Coordination Unit (IPCU). (All components were carried out due to FIDIC Conditions of Contract).

Consultancy Services for Feasibility Study and Technical Assistance for Retrofitting of Selected Hospitals in İstanbul aims at:

  • Retrofitting of selected hospitals (staged as phase 1)
  • Renovation of two hospitals to be retrofitted.(staged as phase 2)

Scope of retrofitting works include:

  • Design review, verification for 2007 earthquake code compliance and redesign for 6 hospitals with a total area of 61.000 m2 (Group1).
  • Retrofit design for 7 hospitals with a total area 171.000 m2 (Group 2)
