ALTER attended to the 7th International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) Europe Congress.
ALTER attended to the 7th International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) Europe Congress held in Athens, Greece. The congress brought together 280 experts, engineers, and scientists from over dozens of nations. The congress focused on the importance of the water cycle and natural based solutions to overcome climate change impacts to address present and future challenges. In addition, recent developments in computational and experimental techniques were also the focus of the congress.
On the behalf of ALTER, one of our Project Managers Yunus Oruç attended the congress, also Yunus Oruç presented the study prepared by collaboration with our Project Manager Kutay Yılmaz, Ph.D and Çağla Irmak Ünal. The title of the study and presentation was “Comparing Direct 2D and 1D-2D Coupled Hydraulic Modeling Approaches for Flood Hazard Quantification” and presented in Session 2 of Theme 4.
In addition, Yunus Oruç attended the training titled “NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS (NBS) TO CONFRONT WATER EXTREMES IN EUROPE: DESIGN AND MODELLING TOOLS” held on 5-6 September before the congress. Training has been given by pioneers in this field such as Prof. Markus Disse, Prof. Karl Broich, Prof. Anastasios Stamou.
